Department of Agricultural Engineering

Overview

Agriculture plays a vital role in ensuring food and nutritional security for the country. Keeping in mind the importance of agriculture in our economy and everyday life, GIET University has set up Agricultural Engineering.

Agricultural Engineering is the branch of engineering that applies engineering principles to increase food production, increase farmers’ income, and preserve food through processing, reducing food wastage. It also involves the use of several engineering principles that aid farmers and agriculturalists in various aspects. These aspects include the better design of agricultural machinery, equipment, efficient water and soil management, erosion control through scientific means, natural resource management, efficient post-harvest technology, use of greenhouse technology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) the Agricultural equipment, machinery, and process.

The branch of Agricultural engineering aims to make agriculture a sustainable, profitable, and competitive enterprise. Agricultural Engineering also encompasses Animal Biology, Plant Biology, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering within its fold.
