DR. SIBO PRASAD PATROHoD, Department of (Computer Science & Engineering)

Dr. Sibo Prasad Patro earned his Ph.D. degree from Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University, Gunupur, Odisha, in 2023. He obtained his M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from BPUT, Odisha in 2014.

Dr. Sibo Prasad Patro is currently serving as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at GIET University, Gunupur, Odisha. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University, Gunupur, Odisha, in 2023. He completed his M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha in 2014.

Dr. Patro has more than 20 years of teaching experience in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Mining, Internet of Things (IoT), and their engineering applications. His primary research focuses on exploring machine learning techniques for the early prediction of cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

He has published numerous research papers in reputed international journals indexed in SCI, SCIE, ESCI, and Scopus, as well as in leading international conferences organized by IEEE and Springer. He has also served as Session Chair, Co-Chair, Technical Program Committee member, and reviewer for several international and national conferences and reputed journals indexed by Scopus, ESCI, and SCI.

Dr. Patro has received Best Paper Presentation Awards at ICCSEA-2020 and RAIBAH-2024 organized by GIET University, Gunupur. He has actively mentored multiple student teams and has been associated with the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) during the years 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Under his mentorship, the SIH 2023 team emerged as winners in the finals held at Kolhapur Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kolhapur, Maharashtra. In SIH 2024 and SIH 2025, teams mentored by him qualified as finalists, with the final rounds conducted at Hyderabad and Dehradun, respectively.

Additionally, in 2025, two student teams mentored by him secured 2nd and 3rd prizes at HACKSPRINT UTKARSH organized by Swarnandhra College of Engineering and Technology, Narsapur.

Dr. Sibo Prasad Patro is a self-motivated and dynamic academic leader who has taken several initiatives for the academic and overall development of the department
