GIET University, Gunupur (formerly known as Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology) was established by “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust,” Gunupur, Odisha, India in the year 1997. Since inception, the Trust promotes Technical Education in India with a motto of providing Quality Education in a highly disciplined and conducive environment with International Standards.
The department of computer science and engineering at GIET University has tie-ups with different organisations, companies, skill development centres. This is to ensure that all the students are provided with a learning environment that challenges them and helps them develop their knowledge, practical and social skills holistically. The focus is also on developing their leadership qualities, evolve socially responsible behaviour and inculcate lifelong learning habit in them. GIET University signed a workforce development program (WDP) agreement with Oracle. Through this program, the students got an opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and develop skills in Java Programming, Database Design, Structured Query Language (SQL) etc. Along with academic knowledge, the students also gained valuable skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration with industry experts as well peers from different educational institutions. The knowledge and skills attained by them will help the students advance their academic career in computer science or enter the job market across various industries.
Through this centre, GIET University students are trained and certified by IIT Bombay on the potential use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning for the benefit of all learners in higher education institutions across the country. This was an initiative launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India.
GIET University has tie-ups with Imagin xP, a leading ed-tech organisation. Students are taught User Experience (UX) design tools and techniques as exercised in the industry. This makes them industry-ready and employable in different industries. This program is focused on the overall development of students through a mixture of classroom assignments, practical fieldwork, live industry projects, internships and shadow learning.
IBM has been collaborating with the Computer Science and Engineering department of GIET University to provide world-class skills, training to students on IBM technologies. The centre is providing the students with an opportunity to learn new skill-sets on the latest technologies and IBM products. Both the faculty and students of GIET University are trained in leading technologies as per industry standards through IBM experts. The latest software technologies include RAD, CLOUD, BIG DATA, TIVOLI, DB2, etc.
GIET University has a tie-up with Infosys Technologies. The programme called Campus Connect trains faculty and students from the university in an industry-oriented curriculum. This joint programme has been able to produce several industry-ready graduates. This programme aims to deepen the industry-academia relationship as well as create a strong foundation for the emerging knowledge economy in India.
