GIET University, Gunupur (formerly known as Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology) was established by “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust,” Gunupur, Odisha, India in the year 1997. Since inception, the Trust promotes Technical Education in India with a motto of providing Quality Education in a highly disciplined and conducive environment with International Standards.
B. Tech in Electrical Engineering is a four-year undergraduate program comprising eight semesters. Electrical Engineering is the main core branch of engineering and a professional engineering discipline that has a strong demand in the job market. Electrical Engineering has been one of the most prominent engineering courses in recent times and with the growth of the economy, new jobs and opportunities are created with every passing day.
The Electrical Engineering department at GIET University has designed a course that covers the necessary input required in theoretical and practical terms to all the students. Students will develop competence in areas of electrical machines, control system, power system, power electronics and drives, high voltage engineering and so on. They also learn about the operation of AC and DC motors, deal with high voltage transmission and distribution of power, operation of electric machines like generators, transformers, and safety and control of electric gadgets.
The course curriculum has been formulated in consultation with industry experts, prominent alumni and persons from reputed academic institutions. This is done to ensure that our students receive the best education and remain competent for industry and higher education. Students learn about Basic Electronics, Data Structure and Algorithms, Engineering and Mathematics, Network Theory, Analog and Digital Circuits, Electrical Machines, and so on. The focus is on project work, internships, value added courses etc. to inculcate practical knowledge to the students.
The laboratory is well equipped with different types of motors, tools for measurement of voltage, resistance etc. This ensures that students regularly conduct experiments and learn about practical applications of the various concepts they learn in the classroom.
Electrical Engineering has a great scope with graduates working not just in the construction or power industry. But also, in telecommunication, navigation, Information Technology, aerospace, defence etc. From maintaining power grids to supervising research to designing circuits for computers. Electrical Engineers are required in several fields.
