The Programme:
The objective of the Ph.D. Programme in Management is to equip students with necessary skills to identify and carry out research on complex issues in the specialized field of management. The programme is strongly committed to preparing thought leaders, both for the academic and corporate world. Graduates of the Ph.D. Programme in Management are placed in world class organizations in teaching, research and consulting positions.
The Ph.D. Programme in Management seeks candidates with outstanding academic credentials, intellectual curiosity and discipline needed to make scholarly contribution. It provides a diverse set of opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and research. The student becomes part of one of the eleven functional/sectoral areas and acquires the super specialized theoretical knowledge and practical aspects of the area.
The small class size allows close interaction with faculty members, who provide the intellectual stimulus and help develop the student’s own research interests and professional goals. Students spend generally a little over four years that includes two years of rigorous course work. Course work in the first year provides a general management overview and develops basic skills for analyzing managerial problems. In the second year, students take advanced Ph.D. level courses in their areas of high levels of specialization.
After completing the course work, students have to pass an area comprehensive examination to demonstrate that they have reached a level of proficiency in the area of high levels of specialization.
The Ph.D. dissertation, for the next couple of years, provides them with an opportunity to make original contribution to an area of management or to one of its source disciplines.

Duration of the Programme:
The minimum duration for Ph.D. programme is THREE years, including course work. However, extension up to SIX years period of registration beyond the above limits shall be permitted based on the recommendation of the concerned Research Supervisor.
Eligibility
Master’s Or Post graduate diploma (2 yrs) Or Professional qualification – CA/ ICWA/CS with B.Com/Degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent. (50% in case of SC / ST / CAT – I / 5 years teaching experience)
Or
B.Tech./ 4 year Degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent
Admissions Process:
The admissions will be done after short listing the applications which have been received from various candidates interested in the course. The candidates can pursue the course after the UG as well as the PG degrees in various Science, Medical or Engineering Courses.
The criteria for all the courses across all the colleges and universities providing the course are different.
The marks in CSIR UGC NET, JRF, GATE, ICAR, DST Fellowship etc can also be used for admissions in the PHD in Management.
Besides the University also conducts its own entrance test for admission of the students in this programme.
