Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence is an approach to make a computer, robot or technical product think like human beings. AI is a study of how the human brain think, learn, decide and work when it tries to solve a problem. AI aims to improve computer functioning.
The department of Master of Computer Application at GIET University has been trying to improve the role of AI in human life. This will greatly aid human beings in various fields where AI can be applied such as vision systems, speech recognition, language processing and so on.
Machine Learning is a subset of Artificial Intelligence. It is the science of getting computers to act on their own without being programmed. It is used to find patterns in data which can then be used to make predictions.
Our researchers have been working on making use of Machine Learning in various areas. Like diagnosing cancer, driving cars, detecting fraud, marketing personalisation and so on.
Basically, ‘cloud’ refers to the internet. Cloud Computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the internet rather than over the computer’s hard drive.
Our researchers are working on various research topics in the field of cloud computing like Cloud Cryptography, Cloud Load Balancing, Mobile Cloud Computing, Edge Computing and so on.
Data Analytics is the science of analysing raw data to formulate conclusions from that information. It is a broad term that encompasses different types of data analysis. Many of the techniques of data analytics have been automated into mechanical techniques and algorithms that work over raw data.
Our team of researchers have been working on important research topics within the broad field of data analytics like Big Data, Bioinformatics, Deep Learning, Online Learning, etc.
Internet of Things (IoT)
The term Internet of Things encompasses everything connected to the internet. It is the concept of connecting any device with an on/off switch to the internet. This can include any kind of electronic device like mobile phones, headphones, washing machines, wearable gadgets, etc.
The researchers from our department have been working on a broad range of topics under IoT, some of which are: IoT network design and cloud networks, embedded system architecture, adaptive and cognitive networks, IoT-enabled home networks and so on.
All our faculty and students are involved in at least one of the aforementioned research areas. This involvement in research work provides students with in-depth technical knowledge as well as provides ample scope for experimentation and innovation.
