GIET University, Gunupur (formerly known as Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology) was established by “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust,” Gunupur, Odisha, India in the year 1997. Since inception, the Trust promotes Technical Education in India with a motto of providing Quality Education in a highly disciplined and conducive environment with International Standards.
The Master of Business Application (MBA) Department at GIET University has a dedicated, qualified and experienced faculty and support staff. The goal of the faculty members is to make learning a fun, thrilling and engaging experience. To this end, they employ different pedagogical methods. Team activities
Students are encouraged to work in teams. This ensures that they learn to work and adapt with a diverse workforce on specific assignments. Working in teams also assures improved managerial and negotiation skills among students. Students also undertake projects together. During these project works, students research and analyse the latest industry developments, incorporate theoretical concepts, and propose innovative solutions to different industry challenges.
Guest Lectures and Corporate Talks
To enhance the understanding of the subject matter and to provide clarity on the use of different management concepts, the MBA Department of GIET University regularly organise guest lectures and corporate talks. Acclaimed faculty from other management institutions and professionals from different industries share their knowledge and expertise with our students.
Case Study
The use of case studies while teaching the syllabus helps students in identifying real-life problems related to the field of management. Students study cases, understand the situation, analyse the problems and come up with solutions which they then discuss in class. Case studies are sometimes also used as a topic for group discussions. This discussion helps students develop an understanding of the topic thoroughly as well as improve their communication skills. This prepares them for interviews later on.
Group Discussions
The MBA Department regularly conducts group discussions on different topics related to management. These subject-specific group discussions help students to improve communication skills, provides better insight into the topics, improves the research skills of students and so on. Since group discussion is one of the prominent criteria for students for getting selected in campus interviews. The regular holding of group discussions helps them to hone their skills and prepare for interviews.
Workshops
The MBA Department regularly conducts workshops on different domains to equip the students with the necessary skills as per the demand of the industry. Some examples of workshops conducted over the years include effective communication, project management, financial modelling, portfolio management, business analytics, etc.
Industrial Visits
Industrial visits are regularly arranged for students to gain practical knowledge and hands-on learning experiences. Students are provided with insight regarding the internal working of companies. They get an opportunity to learn things practically through interaction with industrial experts.
