GIET University, Gunupur (formerly known as Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology) was established by “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust,” Gunupur, Odisha, India in the year 1997. The central library of GIET University, popularly known as “Knowledge Centre” is one of the best libraries in Eastern India. The “Knowledge Centre” of GIET University is as old as the university itself and built for efficient delivery of knowledge. It is situated at the heart of the University, and famous for its extensive and advanced collection of resources and services for students and faculty alike.
It is out-spreaded over the area of 1206 sq. meters and has two reading halls with a seating capacity of 1000 students. It is equipped with the world’s best and advanced technology with unmatchable collection of books, magazines, journals, CDs and DVDs, back volumes. The library at GIETU has the latest print and electronic resources equipped with Koha Open LMS-21.05.03.001 for library automation and DSpace for Institution’s repository. The central library has more than 81,000 books, titles and regularly subscribes to premier international and national print journals, electronic journals, and full-text online journals. It has some of the best study cases from leading global societies and departments to give the readers a broader and in-depth view and information. Additionally, the library also has access to vital full-text databases from online study centres.
Each department is also having a departmental library to give readers quicker and comfortable access to resources as per subjects and courses’ preference. The central library also has a full high-speed internet and Wi-Fi facility with ten systems loaded in the digital library. With the highly developed digital outpost located in the library facility, one can access rich content available online, if not offline. One will also find NPTEL’s online courses, syllabus, previous papers of various departments, and courses available in the facility since 2016. The library offers round-the-clock printing services for students and faculty, lamination, and other stationary services too. With such an extensive collection of resources and advanced facilities, the knowledge centre has developed as a student’s favourite repository for all educational activities.
