One-Day Workshop on “Outcome Based Accreditation for UG Engineering Programs”

Held at GIET University, Gunupur

GIET University, Gunupur successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Outcome Based Accreditation for UG Engineering Programs (Tier-I Institutes)” on 24th April 2026 at the IPFC-GIET University Cell Auditorium, AME Block (2nd Floor). The workshop was conducted with the objective of enhancing awareness and understanding of Outcome Based Education (OBE) and accreditation processes among faculty members and academic administrators of engineering programs.

The programme commenced with the formal invitation of guests to the dais, followed by lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, setting an auspicious tone for the event. The gathering was formally welcomed by Prof. Shakti Prasanna Khadanga, Assistant Registrar, IQAC, GIET University, who highlighted the importance of accreditation in ensuring academic excellence and institutional growth.

Addressing the participants, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) A.V.N.L. Sharma emphasized the significance of adopting outcome-based practices in Engineering Education to align institutional goals with global academic standards and industry requirements.

Further the Chief Guest, Dr. Sandeep Anil Meshram, Associate Dean, COEP Technological University, who discussed the practical challenges and opportunities associated with accreditation frameworks.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ajit Kumar Patro, Assistant Registrar, Academic.

The technical sessions began with an insightful online expert lecture by Prof. Mukul S. Sutaone, Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, who elaborated on institutional preparedness for accreditation and strategies for achieving quality benchmarks.

The session was further enriched by an online address by Dr. Nitin Keshaorao Khedkar, Professor and Director (HR), Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, Pune who shared valuable insights on the evolving accreditation landscape in higher education.

This was followed by another eminent expert session by Dr. Uttam Chaskar, Associate Professor, COEP Technological University, Pune who provided detailed guidance on documentation and compliance requirements for accreditation in online platform.

Post tea break, participants attended an engaging offline expert session by Dr. Sandeep Anil Meshram, where he explained the practical implementation of OBE frameworks in undergraduate engineering curricula. Another session by Dr. Nitin Keshaorao Khedkar focused on aligning program outcomes with institutional vision and mission statements.

The afternoon session featured an online lecture by Dr. N. K. Chougule from COEP Technological University, Pune, who provided deeper insights into assessment methodologies and continuous improvement mechanisms under accreditation standards.

The workshop concluded with a hands-on exercise session conducted by Dr. Nitin K. Khedkar and Dr. Sandeep A. Meshram, where participants actively engaged in practical activities related to outcome mapping and accreditation preparation.

The workshop proved to be highly informative and beneficial, equipping faculty members with practical knowledge and strategic insights required for strengthening academic quality and preparing undergraduate engineering programs for successful accreditation outcomes. The workshop was ended by the vote of thanks by the anchor, Mrs. Furti Fiza, Assistant Professor, Department of English, GIET University.
