The SAE Club of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) University, Gunupur, successfully organized a one-day webinar titled “Legacy Lap: Alumni Wisdom for Boosting Electric Kart Innovation” on 23rd February 2025 at 6:00 PM (IST) via Google Meet. The event began with a welcome address by Mr. Santosh Kumar Tripathy, Faculty Advisor, SAE Club. This event served as an excellent platform for students to learn from accomplished alumni who have made significant strides in their respective careers.
The webinar featured three distinguished alumni from the 2018-22 batch: Mr. Suvikram Pradhan (Senior Developer, Wipro), Mr. Deepankar Mahato (Design Engineer, Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd.), and Mr. Anshuman Nayak (Associate – QEA Life Sciences, Cognizant). Each of them shared their professional journey, shedding light on how their experiences at GIET University shaped their careers and helped them excel in the industry.
During the session, the speakers provided valuable technical insights into electric kart innovation. They discussed key aspects such as design challenges, material selection, and performance optimization, offering students a clearer understanding of real-world applications. The alumni also emphasized the importance of keeping up with industry trends, emerging technologies, and career opportunities in the field of electric vehicles (EV) and motorsports engineering.
A Q&A session was held towards the end, allowing students to interact with the speakers directly. This engaging discussion enabled students to gain deeper insights into industry requirements, project execution, and future technological advancements in the field of electric karting.
The webinar was a resounding success, strengthening the bond between current students and alumni while fostering knowledge-sharing and mentorship. The insights shared by the alumni will significantly contribute to the growth and success of Team Prarambh, the university’s electric kart team, in upcoming competitions.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering and SAE Club extend their heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed alumni for their valuable time and knowledge.
