Engineer’s Day Celebration on 15th Sept. 2024

The IEI & ISTE Student Chapter, in collaboration with the SARS Club at GIET University, successfully organized the National Engineer’s Day celebration on 15th September 2024. The event was held in association with the Institution of Engineers India (IEI) – Sunabeda Local Center and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Sunabeda.

The program commenced with a warm welcome speech by Dr. A. B. Srinivasa Rao, Dean of the School of Engineering & Technology (SoET). The occasion was graced by Er. Premananda Maity, Chief Manager (Overhaul) at HAL and Chairman of IEI, Sunabeda Local Center (SLC), Odisha, as the Chief Guest. Er. Sanjaya Kumar Bishoyi, Chief Manager (Quality Control) at HAL and Honorary Secretary of IEI, SLC, Sunabeda, Odisha, served as the Guest of Honor.

Over 200 students from various engineering disciplines participated in this prestigious event, highlighting the importance of innovation and engineering excellence.

A technical paper presentation was delivered by Er. Alok Narain, Deputy General Manager (Testing), Er. Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Senior Manager (Testing), and Er. Sanjaya Kumar Bishoyi on the topic “Driving Sustainability with Engineering Solutions Embracing the Latest AI-Driven Technologies.” Their presentation emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in advancing sustainable engineering solutions.

Additionally, an insightful panel discussion featuring esteemed professionals from HAL explored the future of engineering in various domains. The panelists included Er. Manas Ranjan Subudhi (Chief Manager, Quality Control), Er. Manoj Kumar Pattnaik (Manager, Tooling), and Er. Pradeep Kumar Das (Senior Manager, Planning).

In the lead-up to Engineer’s Day, the IEI & ISTE Student Chapter, alongside the SARS Club, organized a series of technical events, fostering competition and innovation among the students. The top performers were recognized and awarded cash prizes totaling ₹19,000

AWARD by IEI, SLC, Sunabeda (Institution of Engineers India):

LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD received by Er. Nirmal Chandra Mallick, Chief Engineer (Retd.), Water Resources and Er. Dasarathi Nanda, Engineer-in chief (Retd.), Water Resources.

EMINENT ENGINEER AWARD received by Er. Arabinda Swamy, Additional General Manager, Overhaul-Sukhoi Engine Division. YOUNG ENGINEER AWARD received by Er. Pradeep Kumar Das, Chief Manger, Maintenance (Electrical) and Er. Manas Ranjan Subudhi, Chief Manger, Overhaul (Aggregate).

IEI & ISTE student chapter organised different events such as Drone Hackathon, Technical debate competition, Waste-O-Craft competition, Technical quiz competition. Winners and runners of the events received cash prize. The program ended with a Vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Manas Ranjan Panda and organised by Prof. Rakesh Sahu & Prof. Ashish Tiwary
