Dr. Manas Ranjan Sarangi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University, Gunupur, Odisha, received the Young Faculty Oral Presentation Award for his research paper entitled “Diffraction of Water Waves by a Spatially Non-uniform Elastic Plate on a Porous Seabed.”
The award was presented during the Workshop and Conference on Wave Dynamics: Theory, Methods & Applications, organized by the Department of Mathematics at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Punjab, held from March 05–07, 2026.
The conference focused on advanced mathematical and computational approaches to wave dynamics, particularly emphasizing the Boundary Element Method (BEM) through a combination of theoretical discussions and hands-on sessions. In addition, the event also highlighted the Finite Difference Method and Dimensional Analysis as effective tools for solving complex research problems in applied mathematics and engineering sciences.
The workshop and conference received partial financial support from Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).
This recognition highlights Dr. Sarangi’s contribution to the field of water wave mechanics and applied mathematics, and reflects the growing research engagement of the Department of Mathematics at GIET University in advanced theoretical and computational studies.
