Proceedings of the celebration of “AKSHAYA TRITIYA’ observed on 30th of April, 2025 in School of Agriculture (SoAg), GIET University, Gunupur (District: Rayagada)
School of Agriculture (SoAg), GIET University, Gunupur celebrated the auspicious day of ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ on 30th of April, 2025 in Instructional Farm- I, SoAg, Gunupur. The significance of Akshaya Tritiya to the whole world might be related to increase in wealth and prosperity but to the farming community, it marks the day when a farmer sows his land after praying to Goddess Lakshmi, in the hope of a bumper yield. The rituals of the ceremony, namely ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ and ‘Bhumi Pujan’ was carried out by Prof. (Dr.) V. S. Devadas, Dean (I/C), SoAg. The occasion was witnessed by Mr. A. K. Mishra, Assoc. Dean (Admin), SoAg, Prof. (Dr.) Susanta Kumar Mohanty (Prof., SoAg), Dr. Rinny Swain (Assoc. Prof., SoAg), faculties, staff and students of SoAg, seeking blessings from the almighty.
After ‘Bhumi Pujan’ and ‘Puspanjali’, Prof. (Dr.) V. S. Devadas broadcasted paddy seeds as the bullocks tilled the soil. Following him, Mr. A. K. Mishra and staff of SoAg joined the ritual of broadcasting seeds as well, wishing prosperity to agricultural field. The rituals ended with ‘Prasad Sevan’.
