2 DAYS BOOTCAMP ON “INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP & STARTUP”

STARTUP ODISHA & CARVE STARTUP LABS

Two Days STARTUP BOOTCAMP programme was successfully organized in G.I.E.T University, Gunupur in association with STARTUP Odisha and CARVE STARTUP LAB PVT LTD, Bangalore. The purpose of this workshop was to develop Entrepreneurial culture among the technocrats through the hands on practices of idea pitching which will create a frame work in their mind on ideation, innovation and startup. The workshop not only energized the young mind about the pitching of business idea but also motivated them for startup.

As per the plan the workshop was conducted on 19^th April and 20^th April 2019 in central auditorium at G.I.E.T University, Gunupur Odisha. The Mentor and chief guest of this workshop was Mr.Vishnu Nagaraj founder of CSL PVT Ltd Bangalore. The guest speaker was Mr.M.Krishna founder of Modern Acres PVT Ltd. The inauguration of this programme was held on 19^th April at 10 am in central auditorium of at G.I.E.T University, Gunupur Odisha. On the Dais Dr.K.Senthil Kumar (Principal of at G.I.E.T University, Gunupur), Dr. A.V.N.L Sharma (Dean Academic of G.I.E.T University, Gunupur), Mr. Vishnu Nagaraj (Founder of Carve startup Pvt Ltd) and Mr. M .Krishna (Founder of Modern Acres PVT Ltd) and the Mr.  Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, Senior Mission Associate, StartUp Odisha were present. In the inaugural address Dr.K.Senthil Kumar , Principal of G.I.E.T University, Gunupur  heartily welcome all the guest and emphasized that such workshop needs to be encouraged for promoting successful startup and also highlights some of the potential areas for promoting startup. In the addressing speech Dr. A.V.N.L Sharma, Dean Academic of G.I.E.T University, Gunupur briefly narrated some successful startup to all participants and motivated the participants to attend the workshop with devotion such that it will help them in coming future.

The first day was as usual anxious for the aspiring entrepreneurs and after the inaugural formalities; a brief speech and idea was presented by Mr. Vishnu Nagaraj Key speaker of this programme how to use idea canvas map to present their ideas! STARTUPS! The first session of Day 1 saw Ideation, some funny games i.e all about functioning brain for creation of ideas among the 21 teams of 5 each. Once the idea was mooted and accepted the groups went into product designing, giving their idea an impactful design.

Soon after the lunch, Mr. Vishnu Nagaraj spoke the participants how to present their ideas on canvas paper with much coloring. Students really enjoyed their contribution making a business model and preparing a concrete report about their ideas. In the 2^nd session of Day 1, the teams got busy in sales and marketing to find customers and to dealt challenges and market inability. Each team had to prepare charts for the ideas and present them through a group cat walk! An enjoyable experience. The day ended with the more movement and guidance of mentors

The second day was full of activity with the complete business model being created by the respective teams. Networking options explored and how to pitch were also actively carried out by the teams. Teams were busy for making their final report and product canvas model and finally slide presentation.

Finally, the team had to pitch their ideas in front of the judges. Two days of self learning through various interactive activities and fun filled learning experience! It would not be out of lace to share the comments of Vishnu Sir” Response was excellent” and “Impressed with the way the teams identified problem” and created their own idea.

All the Individual team finally presented their idea before the startup Odisha and CSL pvt ltd and the presentation were based on their startup companies. Mr vishnu Nagaraj and his partner M.Krishna both were seriously attached to students for helping them to solve any kind of the startup related problems.

The closing ceremony was done with the presence of Dr.K.Senthil Kumar (Principal of at G.I.E.T University, Gunupur),Mr.Radhanath Patra (Member Secretary of Business Incubator) and Coordinator of E-Cell  G.I.E.T University, Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, Senior Mission Associate, StartUp Odisha, Mr. Vishnu Nagaraj, Founder, CSL Labs, Mr. M. Krishna Fonder of Modern Acres Pvt ltd and other faculty members .

With this workshop students were so much fascinated to open startup companies in nearby future, especially thanks to Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, Senior Mission Associate, Startup Odisha, for organizing the startup boot camp programme in the remote places of Odisha. The workshop

Our purpose was to IGNITE and we have probably done it, Mr. Vishnu Nagaraj is a true motivator and great speaker for all such kind of startup activity programme.Details of the workshop in numbers:

In total there are 102 participants (90 student’s participants and 12 volunteers). They were divided 18 teams comprising of 5to 6 members each. It was restricted to 102 students on first come first serve basis. The students from different discipline of engineering participated in the Boot camp. However due to restrictions in numbers several students were turned back. The following table gives a glimpse of the 18 teams at large.

All these conceptualize ideas were judged by 4 judges on the basis of parameters like creativity, innovation, value proposition, and marketability. The top 3 teams whose ideas are ranked first, second and third are:

• First: Group 18: BIODEGRADABLE PEN
• Second: Group 3: MOVERS.COM
• Third: Group 1: LAUNDRY TECHS

 
The workshop was concluded by Vote of Thanks by Mr. Radhanath Patra, Coordinator of E-Cell G.I.E.T University ,Gunupur. Startup Odisha and the Boot camp were declared over. Media coverage to the entire event was done by Dharitri and sambad news paper, Rayagada edition

Finally, it was a successful programme and all credit to startup Odisha.
