GIET UNIVERSITY GUNUPUR TO HOST SIH -2020
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Smart India Hackathon SIH- 2020 software edition is being conducted in online mode from 1st Aug to 3rd Aug 2020.
GIET University Gunupur has been selected as one of the nodal centers to facilitate the SIH software edition operations and support to participants.
The program will be inaugurated locally at GIET University Gunupur and centrally from New Delhi by Minister for HRD and Hon’ble Minister of State for HRD on 1st August, 2020 at 8:00 am.
A total of 47 teams comprising more than 282 participants will compete against 10 problem statements from 2 ministries and industries.
GIET University Gunupur is hosting problem statements given by AICTE-MIC & Ministry of Textiles. But, where as prize money for AICTE-MIC Student Innovation category, 3 teams per nodal center will be selected of which 1st prize money will be of Rs 1 Lac and 2nd of Rs 75000 and 3rd will be of Rs 50000.
Welcome address will be presented by Hon’ble President Prof. ( Dr.) S. P. Panda / Vice President Prof. ( Dr.) C. D. Panda, GIET University while the function will be graced by Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, IAS, Commissioner- cum-Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Odisha. Guest of Honour Dr. Bhupendra Goswami, Regional Officer, AICTE, ERO, Kolkata and Dr. Elangovan Kariappan, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India will preside over the function. Vote of thanks will be proposed by Prof. ( Dr.) Goutam Ghosh, Vice Chancellor, GIET University.
The programme will be centrally inaugurated by Union Minister for HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank from New Delhi on August 1 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also interact with the students in the evening.
This year SIH team and experts from Participating Ministries/ Companies/ Organizations will centrally monitor the performance of each student innovator during hackathon and will decide on funding their Innovation and on offering them an opportunity of internship or job at their organization.
