On January 4, 2023, GIET University, Gunupur, held a tuberculosis awareness campaign on its campus in support of the Prime Minister’s “Tuberculosis Free India” campaign. Under this program, the university adopted some tuberculosis patients from Gunupur Block for the next six months for their nutritional care and support.
Dr. N.V.J. Rao, Registrar, GIETU, distributed a nutritious food basket to the patients and committed them to fulfilling their dietary needs for the next six months.
Dr. Mamata Sahu, the district TB prevention officer, Mr. Nabin Kishore Mohanty, the tuberculosis district coordinator, and Sasmita Maharana, the coordinator-PPP, all spoke to the pupils about the illness. Dr. Premansu Shekhar Rath, the National Service Scheme’s programme officer, presided over the event, while Prof. Bani Prasad Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
