AICTE – Distinguished Chair Professor Scheme Lecture Series

SOS, G.I.E.T UNIVERSITY, GUNUPUR is organizing ” Distinguished Chair Professor(DCP) Lecture Series in virtual mode on 1-3, & 5-6 December 2022 at 4.00 PM on all the 5-days.

The Talks will be delivered by:
Prof. Dr. Y.R. Waghmare, Retd. Professor, IIT, Kanpur. All are cordially invited to join the program through google meet. Please circulate it among all the students and advise them to join by 03.50 PM positively.

Under the AICTE-Distinguished Chair Professor (DCP) Lecture Scheme , Dr. Y. R. Waghmare, Former Professor, IIT Kanpur, has been assigned to our GIET University, Gunupur for 5-days DCP Lecture Series. We are very much thankful to AICTE authority for providing such a nice scheme which is enabling our faculty members, Research scholars, Postgraduate students for their academic and research developments.

After taking the suggestion and consent from Prof. Waghmare, it was decided to organise the event from 1^st Dec. 22 to 3^rd Dec. 22 & 5^th-6^th Dec. 2022 for 5-days by School of Science, GIETU. The Program Coordinator for this even has been assigned to Dr. Tapan Kumar Patnaik of GIETU.

We had done the necessary advertisements for this Lecture Series in different electronic media, face book, whatsApp groups, our website, so that more persons can benefit out of this program. Flyers were displayed at different important places inside the campus and also important places for wide circulation and advertisement. Let me to brief about the important proceedings of this event day wise . This program was conducted on virtual mode and approximately 100 participants attended the program in the Auditorium and online.

Day-1, Dt. 01.12.2022 ( Monday) , Time : 4.00 PM to 5.30 PM,

Venue : Biotech Auditorium.

Topic: 1. Basic Issues in the conceptual development of Quantum Theory.

On the day-1, after the formal introduction, Prof. Waghmere started his talk on “Basic Issues in the Conceptual Development of Quantum Theory”. He nicely explained the chronological development of Quantum Mechanics, starting from Newtonian Mechanics. He also narrated about the renowned scientists like Rutherford, Einstein, Neil Bohr , Schrödinger, Heisenberg and others and their concepts and the basic feature of Quantum Mechanics. After the presentation, an interaction with professor with our participants was held nicely.

Day-2, Dt. 02.12.2022 ( Tuesday) , Time : 4.00 PM to 5.30 PM

Topic: 2. Implications of Quantum Theory.

On the day-2, after the recaps, Prof. Waghmare started his talk on “Implications of Quantum Theory ”. He correlated the concepts of Einstein Vs Bohr Vs Heisenberg through examples. He highlighted on Newton’s Gravitation theory. He also explained so nicely about the inner tales about Einstein and others. He narrated the difference between Quantun Mechanics and Quantum Theory, Philosophy of Quantum Theory and uncertainty principle followed by interactions.

Topic: 3. Schrödinger’s Cat and Modern Science.

On the day-3, the topic “Schrödinger’s Cat and Modern Science” was presented by Prof. Waghmare which was related to Modern Science, Reality and virtual events, Bio molucle in living body. He also explained about the superposition states, Quantum computing and Nano technology followed by queries.

Topic: 4. What is (ultimate) Reality!

On the day-4, Prof. Waghmare started the presentation on topic “What is (ultimate) Reality!”. He started with dual nature of matter and nicely explained about the Ideas of Maxwell, Heisenberg, Newtion, De Broglie, Feynmann etc. and others. He also narrated on philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, and on “Vedas” followed by question and interactions.

Day-5, Dt. 06.12.2022 ( Tuesday) , Time : 4.00 PM to 5.30 PM

Topic: 5. Exciting World of Atomic Nucleus

On the day-5, i.e the last day, Prof. Waghmare started with basics of Quantum Mathematics and operation including Linear vector space, Hilbert space along with Heisenberg & Schrodinger representation. Then he explained about the constituents of matters, smallest entity of matter, Hadron, Quark, Anti Quark, Proton, Neutron, Bosons and Mesons also. He shared his experience with Nobel Laureate Prof. Meria G Mayer and about the different reputed Research Institutes throughout the globe. The program ended with a vote of thanks by expressing our gratitude and regards to Prof. Y. R. Waghmare.

We are also very much thankful and obliged to AICTE authority for providing such type of knowledge orientated programs and also expecting the same in future.
