GIET University, Gunupur (formerly known as Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology) was established by “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust,” Gunupur, Odisha, India in the year 1997. Engineers and scientists from all over the world start high-tech businesses to bring their innovations to the market. Entrepreneurial enterprises, according to studies, create the majority of new products and services in a society. This course introduces students to the nature of business and entrepreneurship as a means of making money in a free enterprise economy by creating wealth and manufacturing goods and services for a profit. The focus is on various types of business organizations, such as sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, joint ventures, and not-for-profit organizations.
The Entrepreneurship Concentration within GIET University’s Computer Science Program will attempt to train the founders and leaders of tomorrow’s high-tech companies by providing information and skills crucial to the creation and leadership of such startups or business organizations. The curriculum is tailored to students who aspire to pursue careers as tech entrepreneurs. Courses are taught from the perspective of a student with a strong interest in technological innovation, a strong focus on science courses, and little or no prior business experience.
Course Objective
The course’s goal is for students to get a conceptual understanding of the issue and to comprehend the environment in which an entrepreneur is made. It also aims at making students understand the basics behind running their own business.
Course Syllabus
Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship
This topic covers the base of entrepreneurship studies. You will learn about the definition of entrepreneurship, prerequisites, the difference between entrepreneur and intrapreneur, entrepreneur and manager, entrepreneurship growth in India, women entrepreneurship, rural and urban entrepreneurship.
An Introduction to Computer Programming
This course will teach you the fundamentals of Java programming, with a focus on scientific and engineering applications. You’ll also learn about computer science as a whole and algorithmic thinking, which is the core approach that computer scientists use to solve issues.
Probability, Data Science and Statistics
In the study of computer science, this course firmly integrates the theory and applications of discrete probability, discrete stochastic processes, and discrete statistical inference. To unite core principles about randomness, inference, and computation, the course will introduce the Minimum Description Length Paradigm.
Entrepreneurship and Business Planning
This course focuses on researching, comprehending, and putting into practice the process of starting a business. Finding new business prospects, matching abilities to a new venture, financing, competitive strategy, intellectual property, and how to run a new venture will all be covered. The course will focus on the creation and presentation of a business plan by groups of students from various academic backgrounds.
Computer Science Theory
This course provides an overview of computing models, computability, and complexity. There will be very few programming tasks in this course because it is quite mathematical and abstract.
Operating Systems
Operating system design and implementation. Work with Android devices as part of a hands-on study of Linux operating system design and kernel internals. There are various topics covered in this course from visualization to communication to management.
Entrepreneurial Marketing
This unit covers the institutional and product marketing strategies employed by small and medium-sized businesses. The unit will cover everything from day-to-day marketing operations of the entrepreneurial business to positioning and strategy after a review of basic marketing principles. Students will learn how to analyze, design, and implement marketing strategies, as well as the principles of market research, pricing, and customer outreach and sales.
Entrepreneurial Finance
This unit focuses on how to construct data and secure proper funding for a start-up business. Vendor finance, factoring, and other types of financing are discussed. Students practice basic financial abilities such as financial statement formulation, NPV analysis, and scenario analysis through a variety of assessments, case studies, and team exercises.
Business Management
This unit covers the fundamentals of managing a business. One of the main elements of a business is the people in it. Human Resource management is covered extensively in this unit which is integral to any business.
