GIET University Achieves National Recognition in ISRO Robotics Challenge 2026

Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University, Odisha, Gunupur, has achieved a remarkable milestone in the prestigious ISRO Robotics Challenge – IRoC-U 2026 organized by the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Demonstrating exceptional technical excellence and innovation, Team Sudarsan of GIET University has successfully qualified for the elimination round by securing Rank 26 among 1689 participating institutions from across India. With this achievement, GIET University has earned a place among the Top 74 institutions shortlisted nationally for the next stage of the competition.

In a matter of great pride for the state, GIET University has emerged as the first and only university from Odisha to achieve this distinction in the history of the ISRO Robotics Challenge.

The achievement reflects the University’s growing strength in robotics, innovation-driven research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advanced technical education. The team comprises students from the departments of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML), Computer Science and Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering, who worked with remarkable dedication and commitment throughout the competition.

The team was guided by Dr. Priyadarshan Parida, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with Mr. Ranjit Patnaik, Assistant Professor, GIET University, whose mentorship and technical support played a crucial role in the accomplishment.

The next phase of the competition involves the final university exhibition and video submission to ISRO, scheduled on or before 20th June 2026. The team is presently working on further upgrading the technical capabilities of its drone model in preparation for the upcoming round.

The management, administration, faculty members, and students of GIET University have congratulated Team Sudarsan on this outstanding national-level achievement and extended their best wishes for continued success in the forthcoming stages of the competition.
