Objectives of the Program

  • To enhance knowledge regarding respectful midwifery care.
  • To create awareness about the importance of quality maternal healthcare.
  • To improve identification of obstetrical emergencies during pregnancy and childbirth.
  • To strengthen nursing students’ skills in emergency management.
  • To promote evidence-based midwifery practices among nursing professionals.

Description of the Program

The School of Nursing organized a Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Program on Sensitisation on Midwifery Program to improve awareness and professional competency among nursing students and faculty members regarding maternal and new born care. The program was held in the Mechanical Auditorium on 27th April 2026 with faculty members, students, and the invited resource person. Mrs. Sanjukta Sabata, M.Sc (N), RMC Trainer, served as the chief guest and delivered an informative session on respectful and woman-centered maternity care during pregnancy, labor, and the postnatal period. She discussed the identification and management of obstetrical emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, obstructed labor, fetal distress, and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The importance of the partograph in monitoring labor progress and maternal and fetal condition was also highlighted. Proper use of the partograph helps in early detection of complications, timely intervention, and safe delivery. Students actively participated, making the session highly useful for both academic and clinical learning.
