An Orientation Session on “Enhancing Concentration in the Era of AI” was organized for all B.Tech First-Year students as part of the institution’s initiative to promote holistic student development. The session was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Speaker Dr Saurabh Chaudhuri, MBBA, MD(Radiology), Entrepreneur, Author , Dr. Vijaya Kumar, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Prativa Kar, Head of the Department of Basic Science and Humanities, and Mr. Abhishek Pradhan, Chief Member of the C-Cube Club .The session aimed to create awareness about the importance of maintaining focus, discipline, and effective learning habits in an era increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence and digital technologies.  In addition, the session witnessed active participation from faculty members and students across various departments of GIET University, Gunupur, contributing to the success and vibrancy of the event.

The resource person, Dr Saurabh Chaudhuri, addressed the psychological and behavioral impacts of excessive screen exposure, multitasking, and continuous online engagement, which often hinder students’ ability to sustain concentration and deep learning. The speaker emphasized the importance of consciously managing one’s interaction with technology to enhance productivity and mental well-being.

Through interactive discussions and practical demonstrations, students were introduced to a variety of strategies for improving concentration, including mindfulness techniques, structured study routines, and methods for minimizing digital distractions. The importance of self-discipline, intrinsic motivation, and reflective learning was highlighted as essential qualities for success in the age of AI-driven innovation.

The orientation received an enthusiastic response from the participants, who found the session both informative and inspiring. It encouraged students to adopt a balanced approach toward technology use- recognizing AI as a valuable learning aid while reaffirming that human focus, creativity, and perseverance remain vital for achieving excellence.

The session was organized by the Department of Basic Science and Humanities under the guidance of      Dr NVJ Rao, Registrar, GIET University with the support of the All the Faculty members of BSH.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks extended to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, organizing members, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement and contribution to the success of the event.
