External Academic Advisory Committee (EAAC)

This Committee is constituted with the recommendation of the Governing Body meeting held on dt:10-06-2024 to provide strategic academic guidance and expert recommendations to ensure that the institution’s educational offerings remain relevant, future-ready, and aligned with global standards. The committee plays a critical role in enhancing academic excellence, promoting innovation, and nurturing industry-academia collaborations. It was established on 02-11-2024.

Objectives:

• To provide strategic academic advice and expert guidance to enhance the quality, relevance, and global competitiveness of the university’s academic programs, research initiatives, and industry engagement.
• To advise on curriculum design, development, and revision aligned with national and global standards.
• To recommend measures for enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and evaluation.
• To guide in strengthening research, innovation, and industry collaborations.
• To support alignment with accreditation frameworks and regulatory guidelines.
• To facilitate knowledge exchange and promote best practices in academia.

Statutory Composition:

The Academic Integrity Committee of GIET University shall consist of
i. Chairperson (External)
• A senior academician or educationist of national/international repute. Typically, from a reputed university or research organization.
ii. Members (External – Subject Experts & Industry)
• 4-6 Professors or Associate Professors from leading institutions.
• 1–2 Industry professionals from relevant sectors aligned with the University’s academic disciplines.
iii. Members (Internal – Ex Officio)
• Vice-Chancellor (Ex Officio Chair).
• Registrar (Member Secretary).
• Any other internal members as recommended by the Ex-Officio Chair

Meeting Frequency: At least twice per academic year, or as required by the university.

Tenure of Members: 03 years, extendable based on performance and institutional needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Academic Program Review and Curriculum Development
• Advise on the design, development, and periodic revision of academic programs to ensure alignment with national education policies (e.g., NEP 2020), industry needs, and global trends.
• Recommend inclusion of emerging domains, interdisciplinary components, and skill-based learning.
• Ensure that programs promote outcome-based education and support accreditation requirements.
2. Quality Assurance and Academic Standards
• Provide guidance on maintaining and enhancing academic quality and rigor.
• Review assessment methods, teaching-learning processes, and evaluation systems for continuous improvement.
• Suggest quality benchmarks and metrics aligned with national and international best practices.
3. Research, Innovation, and Consultancy
• Promote research culture and suggest thrust areas based on societal needs, industry trends, and funding opportunities.
• Recommend strategies for increasing research output, innovation, patents, and funded projects.
• Advise on setting up research centres, incubation hubs, or innovation cells.

4. Industry-Academia Linkage
• Facilitate collaboration with industry for internships, projects, guest lectures, and curriculum co-design.
• Help establish Centres of Excellence or Industry-Academia forums.
• Recommend measures to bridge the skill gap and enhance graduate employability.
5. Faculty Development and Capacity Building
• Suggest faculty development programs (FDPs), workshops, and training aligned with current academic and industry standards.
• Advise on performance evaluation systems and career progression strategies for faculty.
• Promote collaborations with national and international academic experts.
6. Policy and Strategic Input
• Offer input on institutional academic policies, strategic goals, and long-term vision.
• Review academic governance frameworks and recommend reforms to enhance transparency and accountability.
• Support the implementation of digital learning, flexible credit systems, and multidisciplinary offerings.
7. Feedback and Evaluation
• Review feedback from stakeholders (students, faculty, alumni, employers) and recommend actionable improvements.
• Participate in academic audits or reviews as external evaluators when required.
8. Reporting and Communication
• Submit formal recommendations and reports to the Academic Council or governing body
• Advisory Committee membership and meeting minutes shall be recorded with the office of the Dean of Academics.
• Monitor progress on past recommendations and provide follow-up advice.
