GANDHI INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, ODISHA, GUNUPUR

M.Sc. in Lifescience

Overview

Lifescience is a dimension wherein students study living organisms. It studies the origin, evolution, and biological traits of living organisms. This is the age of biological sciences. With constantly changing modes of production and climate change, the role of Lifescience becomes crucial for the well-being of human life. Lifescience is the Science of the future as our long-term well is dependent on our understanding of the biological processes. And it is Lifescience that hold the key to this new future.

M.Sc. Lifescience is a science field that comprises living organisms’ scientific study like plants, animals, and human beings. The program is a study of living beings at all levels. Students can specialize in different areas like Chemistry, Computational and System Biology, Developmental Biology, and Tissue Engineering. Some common employment areas for a post-graduate in Lifescience are Medical Laboratories, Biotechnology Firms, and Medical Research Institutes, Wildlife, and fisheries departments.

Eligibility

M.Sc in Lifescience

All candidates need to possess a bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognized college/ university. Minimum marks that candidates need to secure in graduation in order to be eligible for an MSc course is usually 50 – 60%. However, the required percentage might change depending on the policy of a university or institute in which a candidate is applying

Objectives

  • To help the students to develop a scientific temper.
  • To create a broad understanding of the students about the functioning of the discipline.
  • To make the students aware of molecular and cellular organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems.
