Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University (GIET University) is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of mechanical science and producing skilled engineers who are equipped to tackle modern-day challenges in design, manufacturing, and innovation. Established with a mission to nurture critical thinking, technical proficiency, and creativity, the department offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.

B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines.

The Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the oldest departments of the university. It is also one of the largest departments of the university with student strength of about 600 in a few years. While managing this increased strength which is an urgent need of the nation, department is committed to well being and all round development of its students. The department currently runs one Undergraduate strength of 180 students & two post graduate programmes with an intake of 18 each. The department has 4 times NBA accreditation with faculty strength of 36. Department has a technical staff of 12 who are associated with 12 different laboratories. The department is very well equipped with excellent laboratory facilities and resources both in terms of hardware and software. The department has a center of excellence with Twintech, Republic motors, SV NDT Pvt. Ltd. for providing better education towards Automobile, production, CAD/CAM, Thermal engineering etc.

Eligibility

  • B.tech. Mechanical engineering

    Candidates appearing for the GIETEE-2020 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2020, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:

    1. The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi).
    2. Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
    3. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Organization, Geneva.
    4. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/ Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
    5. As per GIET UNIVERSITY norms, NIOS candidates are also eligible to apply. They should submit Migration-Cum-Transfer certificate at the time of admission.
