B.Tech in Bio-Technology Engineering

The department of biotechnology was established in 2004. Today it has proven as a best department for study and research in the field of biotechnology. Biotechnology department is havinghighly experienced faculties with well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratories. The laboratories include Microbiology lab, Molecular biology lab, Bioinstrumentation lab, Plant tissue culture lab and Bioinformatics lab. Apart from above labs, two R&D laboratories have been established and equippedwith modern equipment to carry out the research work. The Department is identifiedfor its innovative R&D programme in various fields like Bioremediation, Bioleaching, Nano biotechnology, Phyto-chemical extraction and the characterization of ethno-medicinal plants etc. The modern equipment like HPLC, RT-PCR, PCR, Gel doc, Fermenter, High speed centrifuge, Laminar air flow cabinet are being utilized by the students for their laboratory and project work.The department also provides its students a remarkable opportunity for independent thought, project work in a new area of biotechnology along with a wide range of extracurricular activities. The faculties are motivating the students to realize their own potential and interest and to work in field to find out solution for biotechnological problems for betterment of society.Various external and internal funded projects are running at the department by various faculties and in the projects, interested students are also getting chance to work. Students are also encouraged to become entrepreneurs in biotechnology area to serve the society by providing job opportunities to others and also goods and services. Professors from other Premier institutes and Industrial personnel are regularly visiting the department to imbibe the recent knowledgeof the field in the mind of students. The department is striving to be a model department in imparting quality education and research activity in the field of Biotechnology.
