Gunupur, located on the foothills of the picturesque Eastern Ghats, on the banks of river Bansadhara, at an altitude of 89 feet above the mean sea level is located at the south eastern boarder of Orissa. It has got the rail connection that links Gunupur with Naupada, a junction on Howrah Chennai route. Express trains like Bokaro Allepy, Samata, Samaleswari etc link Gunupur via Rayagada, Odisha and trains like Howrah - Chennai Mail, Guwahati-Express, Falaknuma Express etc. like all other south bound trains link Gunupur at Palasa, AP.
